It is getting close to that very special time of year. No I don’t mean Halloween, I mean Veeam!
Or to be be more precise the Veeam 100 Summit in Prague Czech Republic.
Last year I took part in my first Summit and it was something that I will never forget.
What is the Veeam 100? Or better put who are the Veeam 100?
The Veeam 100 is an umbrella group that contains the Veeam MVPs (these are Veeam Employees who have gone beyond the call of duty), the Veeam Legends (Veeam users who have made large contributions in the Veeam Community Hub or in the Veeam R&D Forums, and last but not least the Veeam Vanguards (people who have evangelized Veeam in external platforms like blogs, webinars, speaking events and so forth).

So what is so special about this Veeam 100 Group and the summit in Prague?
First of all the Veeam 100 is comprised of top data protection experts. If your work has anything to do with backups, data recovery, or even IT security, then being part of this group provides you with a network of the best of the best in the data protection field with whom you can exchange knowledge. Who needs to google when you can ask an expert? Countless times when I wanted a second opinion in relation to some backup problem I have leveraged my fellow Veeam 100 members for feedback. This aspect of the Veeam 100 cannot be over emphasized enough. As we all know IT is a tough field and mistakes can cost you dearly so having access to top people in the field is invaluable.
One of the many perks that comes with being part of the Veeam 100 is the yearly Summit held in Prague. The Summit is not only a multi-day event where the Veeam 100 get together and enjoy numerous social events but it is also a fantastic educational opportunity with Veeam presenting plans about future roadmaps and goals. There is also ample opportunity to provide feedback to Veeam about what is going on out in the field because the Veeam Vanguards and Legends are drawn from Veeam’s customer base.
It goes without saying that the location for the Summit is an absolute gem. Prague is a magical place, whose winding lanes in the old town are the perfect setting to get one’s creative thinking self empowered. One minute you are immersed in deep and fascinating technical discussions, the next you are walking the mediaeval winding alleys of the Prague’s old town.
